ABSTRACT
Selected city areas were implemented as realistic 3D environments for the simulation and training software XVR On Scene for the Zurich City Police. The aim was to create an immersive training environment in which police forces can realistically train for critical situations and demonstrations. The project was developed in direct cooperation with the city police and makes a significant contribution to professional operational preparation in urban areas.
CHALLENGE
The main requirement was to recreate central city areas of Zurich with such precision and detail that emergency services could immediately find their way around the virtual environment and realistically practice tactical scenarios. Not only did the architectural conditions have to be taken into account, but also specific police requirements such as lines of sight, bottlenecks and potential danger zones. It was also necessary to keep the operational details of the city police internal. They therefore had to be able to map and enter the relevant content themselves. The particular challenge lay in striking a balance between technical feasibility and a high level of realism.
SOLUTION
In close cooperation with the Zurich City Police, XRCONSOLE developed a customized, digital image of selected city areas. The combination of realistic design and optimized performance resulted in a virtual environment that is specially tailored to police training scenarios – for example in preparation for demonstrations, large-scale operations or critical situations. The individually adapted and customizable scenes enable targeted, practical training within the XVR On Scene simulation software.
