Protection and Rescue Zurich

Preparation of a training ground and a district of Zurich as a digital twin

  • Protection and Rescue Zurich

An urban area and a real simulation site were digitally implemented as highly realistic 3D environments for the XVR simulation software for Schutz & Rettung Zürich. The aim of the project was to provide Schutz & Rettung Zürich with an immersive training platform for practicing critical operational situations in urban areas in a realistic manner. The virtual scenarios enable targeted training of medical emergencies, major incidents and coordination in an urban environment.

The realistic depiction of urban locations places special demands on the simulation: dense traffic, narrow access roads, confusing locations and the need for interdisciplinary cooperation with the fire and rescue services. At the same time, it was essential to design the digital environments in such a way that they were both visually authentic and performant within the XVR platform. The simulation had to be able to effectively depict typical challenges in everyday rescue operations – from inner-city emergencies to mass casualty incidents.

In close cooperation with Schutz & Rettung Zürich, XRCONSOLE developed realistic digital images of selected urban areas that were specifically tailored to the needs of the emergency services. The 3D environments depict a wide range of operational scenarios and thus enable practice-oriented preparation for complex situations – from medical emergencies to large-scale operational coordination. The integration into the XVR Simulation software supports safe, flexible and repeatable training that optimally prepares emergency personnel for the challenges of urban rescue services.
