Mixed Reality for First Responders

Med1stMR is developing an advanced Mixed Reality (MR) training system that combines real and virtual environments to prepare medical first responders for high-stress emergency scenarios. The application delivers haptic feedback and immersive MR simulations designed to enhance decision-making and responsiveness during critical moments. This hands-on training approach bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, offering a highly realistic preparation for real-world emergencies.

First responders must act quickly and precisely under intense stress. Traditional training methods often lack the level of realism and interactivity required to train procedural and cognitive skills under lifelike conditions. As a result, uncertainty can arise and overall effectiveness may be reduced in real emergency situations.

Med1stMR uses Mixed Reality to create a realistic training environment that simulates the use of medical equipment and patient care in virtual disaster scenarios. By integrating haptic feedback, real-time interaction, and comprehensive visualisations, the system allows emergency personnel to train effectively for complex incidents. This immersive method not only improves decision-making but also enhances technical and tactical performance, enabling users to make mistakes in a safe setting and learn from them.
